FAQ

Please find answers to common questions below:

Membership (3)

Do I have to be a Uni Student to join UFC?

No. Anyone can apply to become a member of UFC. We suggest you come along to one of our monthly meetings or get in touch with a committee member to introduce yourself prior to applying for membership as this makes the approval process much easier.

How do I join the club?

See the following pages for more information:

Do you offer Social Membership?

Yes. Please see the following pages and forms:

Location (1)

Where are you located

We are based at Jandakot Airport in a private hangar on the Southern Apron near Royal Aero Club. Public access is not available members will be given details on how to access the aircraft.

Note: The club does not have a manned office. If you want to view the aircraft please contact a committee member to arrange a suitable time.

The Club (1)

How long has the club been in operation?

The club started in 1964 and has been operating for more than 50 years. UFC is the oldest University Flying Club in WA and also one of the oldest Flying Clubs in WA.

The Aircraft (2)

Is the aircraft IFR or Night VFR rated?

The club aircraft is day VFR only.

Is the aircraft approved for aerobatics?

No. VH-EZT is not an aerobatic aircraft.

If you wish to perform aerobatics we suggest you contact a flying school with access to a dedicated aerobatic aircraft.

Learning to Fly (1)

How much does it cost to learn how to fly?

This question is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string. Unfortunately, there’s no exact answer as it depends on a wide range of variables – such as your natural flying ability, how much effort you are willing to put into study, how often you plan on flying, the weather, the traffic on the day at Jandakot, on so on.

You can find some helpful information on our Learn to Fly page including some estimated costs. But remember every pilot is different so we cannot provide you with a quote or a fixed price.
