Strip was being checked for future operations. During roll, nosewheel
entered unseen depression hidden by grass. Aircraft nosed down,
propeller struck ground. - 26.10.1986: Registered to University Flying Club (Inc)
- 8.12.1988: Minor damage at Rottnest Island, WA – Aircraft
was landing into strong crosswind beyond the pilot’s experience or
ability. Following sudden wind change on landing, pilot was unable to
avoid obstruction and prop struck ground. - 26.4.1990: Substantially damaged at Rottnest Island, WA –
Pilot decided to return when weather closed in. Pilot was unable to
avoid entering cloud. Made instrument letdown, broke clear just above
sea, made sharp turn to miss a boat and land – during the turn, the
wing struck water, but was able to land at Rottnest Island Airstrip. - 16.11.1990: Minor damage at Jandakot Airport, WA –
Departing aircraft reported foreign object on runway. Object was traced
to VH-SYM. Pilot had flared improperly during landing, which caused the
tail to contact ground, and resulted in tie-down ring being broken off. - 5.2.1995: Substantially damaged at Bunbury Airport, WA
during flight training – The pilot reported that after landing, he
noticed that the aircraft was not slowing down as he applied the
brakes. The pilot shutdown the engine and applied full right rudder as
a crash was imminent. The aircraft hit the grass and slid sideways. The
port wing struck the fence post on the aerodrome boundary fence. The
aircraft swung around and it came to rest on the gravel verge beside a
two lane road with the starboard wing blocking one lane of the traffic.
The pilot evacuated the aircraft and he noticed that the wind sock was

was able to reassure and give advice to the pilot, but during the

sustained damage to the propeller, the nose landing gear tube and the
