About the club

The University Flying Club (UFC) is a not-for-profit flying club based at Jandakot Airport in Perth, Western Australia. We’ve been putting affordable flying within reach of our members since 1958, making us one of WA’s oldest flying clubs.

Despite the name, you don’t need any university affiliation to join — membership is open to everyone.

What we do

We’re a member club providing members access to private recreational flying. Our aircraft is a superbly equipped Van’s RV-9A, VH-LAT, hangared in the club’s own hangar on the Southern Apron at Jandakot. It’s one of the newest and most affordable aircraft available for member private hire at the airport.

To keep it that way, we expect every member to chip in: keeping the aircraft safe, clean and tidy, keeping the hangar in good order, and volunteering for the occasional busy bee. That’s what being a small, volunteer-run club is all about.

What we don’t do

UFC does not offer flight training of any kind, does not offer hours building, and does not hire to inexperienced or trainee pilots. If you’re a licensed, experienced pilot who flies for fun, you’ll fit right in — see joining the club.

The social side

We’re a friendly bunch. Club meetings, fly-aways, fly-ins and hangar get-togethers are all part of the deal, and social membership is open to anyone who loves aviation — licensed or not.

Our history
